Masterclass: Companies Act, 2013

The Master class commenced with a brief introduction by the compere.  Vice Principal Dr. Maria Goretti Simoes, Resource person Adv Prasanna Chowdikar and the audience were formally welcomed by the compere. Adv Chowdikar started his session by  overview of lecture followed by an insightful and in-depth analysis on the topic- ‘Companies Act, 2013: Compliance and Section 137 Complaints’  He explained the various provisions under Section 137 of the Companies Act, 2013, relating to the filing of financial statements with the Registrar of Companies. He elaborated on the statutory requirements and timelines for filing financial statements and discussed the consequences of non-compliance. The resource person also explained the penalty provisions, the procedure relating to complaints under Section 137, and the practical difficulties faced by companies and professionals in ensuring timely compliance.

The session further highlighted the importance of maintaining proper corporate records and adhering to statutory filing requirements. Through practical examples and relevant case references, Adv. Prasanna provided the participants with a better understanding of the legal and practical aspects of corporate compliance. The interactive nature of the session encouraged students to clarify their doubts and engage in meaningful discussion.

 

     

The Master class concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, wherein the participants actively interacted with the resource person and sought clarification on various aspects of company law and statutory compliance. The session proved to be informative and enriching, providing the students with valuable practical insights into the working and compliance requirements under the Companies Act, 2013.
