GRKCL LEGAL AID HELP DESK AT OUR LADY OF GRACE CHURCH, MARGAO

The Students of VVM’s Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law, Margao, organised a Legal Aid Help Desk on 6th , 13th and 20th September 2026 from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

The Help Desk was organised with the objective of providing members of the public with an accessible platform where they could discuss their legal concerns, obtain basic legal guidance and become aware of the avenues available for seeking legal assistance. The initiative also provided the students with an opportunity to interact directly with members of the community and apply their legal knowledge in practical situations.

The first session of the Legal Aid Help Desk was conducted on 6th  September 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. During the first session, members of the public approached the Help Desk and shared their individual legal queries and concerns. The student members of the Legal Aid Clinic listened to their concerns and provided them with basic legal guidance and information regarding the possible avenues available to them. The students sought additional time, to provide appropriate guidance.. The first day therefore served not only as an awareness initiative but also as an opportunity for the public to receive initial guidance regarding their legal concerns.

The second session was conducted on 13th September 2026, again from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.  The  individuals who had come earlier were back to seek clarification regarding their  queries and they continued the discussion regarding their legal concerns. Many new members of the public also approached the Help Desk with their own legal queries. The students accordingly interacted with both the returning attendees and the new visitors and provided them with appropriate basic legal guidance.

The third session was conducted on 20th September 2026, again from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The third day witnessed the return of the earlier individuals to seek clarification regarding their earlier queries and continue the discussion regarding their legal concerns. The third session therefore provided continuity to the assistance initiated on 13th September while also extending the reach of the Legal Aid Help Desk to new members of the community.

Some of the services and assistance sought by the attendees included:

– Assistance and guidance regarding Senior Citizen Cards for elderly persons.

– Guidance regarding Ration Cards and the procedures relating to the same.

– Legal advice regarding various personal and legal concerns raised by members of the public.

– Assistance and information regarding Employment Cards, particularly for young persons seeking employment opportunities.

– General guidance regarding the appropriate procedure and authority to be approached for their respective concerns.

The three-day Legal Aid Help Desk provided a platform for members of the public to discuss their legal concerns and receive basic legal guidance. The continuity between the sessions, particularly the return of individuals who had attended the earlier sessions, along with the participation of new attendees, made the initiative an interactive and community-oriented activity. The programme also enabled the students of the Legal Aid Clinic to gain practical experience in understanding the concerns of members of the public and guiding them towards appropriate legal avenues.
