GRKCL & District Legal Services Authority, South Goa organised Legal Aid Help Desk

The Margao Legal Aid Clinic of VVM’s Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law, Margao, in collaboration with the Mobile Legal Aid Clinic and District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), South Goa, organised a Legal Aid Help Desk on 18th September 2026 and 25th September 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The Help Desk was organised with the objective of providing members of the public with an accessible platform where they could discuss their legal concerns, obtain basic legal guidance and become aware of the avenues available for seeking legal assistance. A member of the DLSA, Ms. Anitha Bandhi, was present to assist the students and provide guidance during the programme.

The first session of the Legal Aid Help Desk was conducted on 18th September 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. whereby the Help Desk was formally inaugurated. During the session, members of the public approached the Help Desk and shared their individual legal queries and concerns. The student members of the Legal Aid Clinic addressed their concerns and provided them with basic legal guidance and information regarding the possible remedies available to them. The interaction allowed the students to understand the practical nature of the legal problems faced by members of the community. The students also sought assistance and guidance from Ms. Anitha, a member of DLSA, South Goa, who was present during the programme. The first day therefore served not only as an awareness initiative but also as an opportunity for the public to receive initial guidance regarding their legal concerns.

The second session was conducted on 25th September 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. It witnessed the return of several individuals who had attended the first session. These individuals came back to provide further information, seek clarification regarding their earlier queries and continue the discussion regarding their legal concerns.

Along with these returning attendees, new members of the public also approached the Help Desk with their own legal queries. The students accordingly interacted with both the returning attendees and the new visitors and provided them with appropriate basic legal guidance.

The second session therefore provided continuity to the assistance initiated on 18th September while also extending the reach of the Legal Aid Help Desk to new members of the community.
