VOTER AWARENESS PROGRAMME

VVM’s Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law, in collaboration with the Election Commission of India and the Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), Goa, in its continued efforts to promote voter awareness and civic responsibility, organized a Voter Awareness Programme on 28th November 2024. The program aimed to educate students about their rights and responsibilities as voters in a democratic nation like India.

Ms. Ana Rita Maria Paes, Joint Mamlatdar and Executive Magistrate of Salcete, and Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) for the 31, Margao Assembly Constituency (AC), graced the occasion as the resource person. She delivered an insightful session on the significance of voting in a democracy and the vital role young voters play in shaping the nation’s future. She also elaborated in detail the functioning of the election process. The session was interactive and enjoyed by the participants.

Resource person appealed to the audience, particularly the young voters, to actively participate in the electoral process and fulfill their duties as responsible citizens.

As of the Schedule of Programme, Dr. Maria Goretti Simoes, Officiating Principal, welcomed the guest and the audience, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in fostering civic awareness.

Ms. Ana Rita Maria Paes elaborated on the importance of voter participation, the electoral process, and the power of a single vote in a democracy like India.

Mr. S.N. Inavalli, Nodal Officer, expressed gratitude to the guest speaker, faculty members, and students for their active participation.

The program was skillfully compered by Ms. Nonita Aguiar, a student of the 1st Year BA LLB program.

The Programme was successful with active participation of 1st Year BALLB students, who are newly enrolled and first-time voters.
