Report on Jan Sunwai under the Public Dialogue Series
The Legal Aid Society of Vidya Vikas Mandal’s Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law, Margao-Goa in association with South- Goa District Police under its Public Dialogue Series organised a Jan Sunwai on the 18th October 2024 at 10.00 am in the G. D Auditorium of it’s Institution on two areas of public importance and interest, “Legislative Changes on Road Safety – Bridging Law Enforcement and Accident Prevention” and “Educating Communities -Mobilising Awareness for Women and Child Rights. Dr. Goretti Simoes, Officiating Principal welcomed the Resource Person and the audience.
Smt. Sunita Sawant, Superintendent of Police, South Goa, in her address highlighted that policing is to some extent the domain of the public and that each of us have a responsibility and accountability in creating a safer environment for ourself and others too. She emphasised the need and importance of adhering to the traffic rules to save precious lives.
Shri Nilesh Rane, DySP / SDPO Quepem, engaged with the audience on the topic of Road Safety and the measures to curb accident related deaths.
Smt. Sudhiksha Naik, Lady Police Inspector of Anti-Human Trafficking Unit Margao shared valuable insights into the topic Mobilizing Awareness for Women and Child Safety.
Ms. Ruby Luis, Assistant Professor gave an overview of the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act 2019 and the challenges that need to be addressed at a deeper level.
