G. R. Kare College of Law added a feather in its cap by inaugurating Legal Counseling and Facilitation Centre for senior citizens on 29th June 2019 The primary objective of this Centre is to provide legal advice to the senior citizens in distress and assist them in approaching the appropriate legal forum to seek help. The Centre was inaugurated at the hands of Shri Sudesh Gaude, Assistant director, Social welfare Department. In his address he stressed on the necessity of need assessment of senior citizens. He congratulated the college for taking such a unique initiative and extended his whole hearted support for the cause. The objectives of the Centre were highlighted by the coordinator of the Centre Ms. Shruti Nadkarni, Assistant Professor.
On this occasion the college signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) with two NGOs working in the field of protection of rights of senior citizens and helping them avail of various Governmental and non Governmental facilities, namely Sanjeevan Society for Youth Development duly represented by its President Dr. Asha Sawardekar and All Goa Senior Citizens Federation represented by its President Shri Diago Da Costa. Principal of the college Dr. Saba Da Silva welcomed the guests and enlightened the gathering about various socio-legal initiatives taken up by the college in the past. The coordinator of the centre Ms. Shruti Nadkarni, Assistant Professor, proposed vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Ms. Akhila Salelkar, student of T.Y.LL.B. Degree programme.
