WINNERS AT STUDENTS’ PARLIAMENT COMPETITION 2025

Vidya Vikas Mandal’s G.R. Kare College of Law, Margao, Goa participated in the ‘Students’ Parliament Competition, 2025’ organised by the Goa Legislature Secretariat, Porvorim, Goa on 12^th February, 2025.

The students enacted the Parliamentary model by enacting the roles of Speaker of Lok Sabha, Prime Minister, Leader of Opposition, Ministers, and other members of the ruling party and opposition. At the valedictory function held on 18^th February, 2025, they were adjudged as the winners of the competition. They received the winners trophy as well as the participation trophy at the hands of Hon’ble Deputy Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly, Shri Joshua D’Souza and other dignitaries.

Asst. Professor Merville Rodrigues and Asst. Professor Sonia Shirodkar were awarded the best faculty Coordinators award. The students also won individual prizes for the roles played by them. Mr. Harshavardhan Gauns Dessai, student of SYBALLB was awarded the best Speaker award and Mr. Heetarth Shetty, also a student of SY.BA.LL.B was awarded the best Prime Ministers award.

All the student participants were presented with a certificate. The students team comprised of 30 students from the BA.LL.B and LL.B.(Degree) programme. Asst. Professor Merville Rodririgues and Asst. Professor Sonia Shirodkar were the coordinators of the students team of the college. Altogether 23 colleges across Goa took part in the competition. The teams were judged on various aspects such as state and national level issues, business of the house, adherence to the parliamentary procedure and rules, discipline etc.
