This MoU is for jointly conducting educational certificate courses in the field of cyber law and awarding candidates upon successful completion of these courses. For this purpose, necessary course material is being provided to the registered candidates and there are teaching sessions in online and actual classroom mode and assessment of the course is carried out though a written examination at the end of the course.
The objectives are to provide a permanent platform for free legal aid through a novel venture by way of a Citizen Facilitation Centre, aptly called Jana Suvidha Kendra, for those who require to avail services provided by the South Goa Collectorate and need assistance with the formalities involved in the administration. Additionally, the MoU provides for collaboration to organise various legal awareness and legal aid programmes. The students volunteer at this Kendra in pre-scheduled groups and on rotational turns and thereby facilitate the needy to be availed of by the citizens for various legal and administrative works throughout all the working days in the year.
The purpose of this agreement is for cooperation in the areas of common interest including International relations and Law and for the Society to liaison with foreign universities and/or institutions for exchange of teaching faculty, researchers, and/or students of our College. In addition to collaborative research projects, publication of research work, organizing of conferences and conducting of courses on cultural dimensions of Lusophone countries mainly Portuguese language courses, this MoU caters to organising of cultural events such as exhibitions and film festivals, all of which are a regular feature at our College. One of the regular outcomes of the MoU is the one-of-its-kind Certificate Programme in Portuguese Language with Legal Inputs offered twice an year by the Centre for Lusophone Culture and Legal Studies of our College.
This is the first MoU entered into with a foreign University and was signed at our College in the presence of the then Consul General of Portugal in Goa, Dr. Francisco Duarte Azevedo. This relates to cooperation for the furtherance of common interests through exchange of teaching faculty and/or researchers, conducting of joint research projects, organizing of conferences and lectures and for exchange of information and joint publications. Professors from the University of Lisbon associate with the teaching faculty of our College as resource persons for the Certificate programme in Comparative studies in Indian and European Laws, offered annually by the College. Likewise Faculty of our College visit the University of Lisbon for Guest Lectures and the Embassy of India in Portugal is an active collaborator with the University of Lisbon for these lectures.
This is yet another international agreement signed at Braga in Portugal and is for student and faculty exchange and promotion of the respective academic programmes of both the institutions and it details out the facilities of accommodation, enrollment, attendance and assessment of students. In addition, this agreement caters to knowledge exchange through Seminars, dialogues, inlcuding through video conferencing and other means. Faculty from our College have visited the University of Minho in Portugal on a study tour and discussions have taken place to commence collaboartive research with JusGov – the research unit of the University of Minho. Likewise, Professors from the University of Minho have shared platforms in a International dialogues and Conferences at our College, widely attended by students and other academicians.
Through this MoU, there is an advancement and enrichment of the mutual objectives of Sangath, Goa, which is an NGO committed to improving physical, psychological and mental health of Society. It also severs in promoting internship for students of our College, enabling initiatives for research and jointly undertaking programmes for sensitizing of rights and duties of the stakeholders of the community. Our College has actively participated and jointly organised different activities in furtherance of the objectives above mentioned and has also been involved in training programmes for stakeholders.
In order to advance and enrich academic programmes of our College, with institutions offering legal Education in other States, a MoU was entered with this leading institution at Pune-Marashtra considering that both our Colleges are recognized by the Bar Council of India and impart legal education in consonance with the UGC . The characteristics of this MoU are to promote exchange of students, faculty and research scholars at under-graduate, post-graduate and doctorate level and to jointly organise seminars and conferences. Our College has jointly oraganised with Modern Law College conferences in Goa as well as Pune at National and international level and faculty of both our institutions have contributed in each others’ research journals.
This MoU is in order to assist the Goa Biodiversity Board in achieving the goals and objective in making people aware of biodiversity and its importance and for this purpose, the College is conducting training programmes, seminars, awareness drives, rallies, street plays and such other activities through its Biodiversity Cell with the acive involvment of the students of our College. In addition, the Faculty of our College are members of Legal Advisory Group of the Goa State Biodiversity Board.
Considering that the State of Goa in India belongs to the Lusophone world and is able to use the Portuguese language as a vehicle of common expression and cultural heritage of the jurists from among the countries that make up the community of Portuguese language countries, our College joins the elite group of Universities, viz. University of Minho (Portugal), University of Fortaleza (Brazil), Eduardo Mondlane University (Mocambique), University of the Itajai valley (Brazil), Institute of Higher Police and Criminal Sciences (Angola) and the Institute of Higher Juridical and Social Sciences (Cabo Verde). By this International Protocol, this research network will document the solutions to complex socio-legal problems of society that demand development of relevant strategies and dissemination of knowledge. The protocol also focuses on the promotion of the Portuguese language at the international level.
This purpose of this MoU is for our College to assist Sajeevan in its goals and objectives of undertaking activities for the welfare of the aged from a legal perspective and for this purpose conducting training programmes, seminars, awareness drives and rallies and such other activities through the ‘Legal Counseling and Facilitation Centre for Senior Citizens’ of the College, which is one of the best practices of the institution. The students of Legal Aid Cell of Ponda have visited the old age home run by Sanjeevan and interacted with the inmates. The College has also been organising debates in civil society on the subject of euthanasia, which is very dear to Sangath.
In order to expand the reach of the ‘Legal Counseling and Facilitation Centre for Senior Citizens’ of the College, this MoU was entered into by our College whereby we provide assistance to the Federations in achieving its goals and objectives of the protection of the welfare of senior citizens. The students of the College are shortly going to undertake a survey to study implementation of the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 after a Round Table Conference is organised with the stakeholders involved.
This MoU is to jointly undertake legal aid activities along with the Lions Club Margao Central, including by providing legal assistance and legal representation to vulnerable sections of society, in keeping with the co-curricular requirements of our College. The office bearers of Lions Club Margao Central are routinely engaged in interactions with the Faculty of our College and chalking out of requirements in this regard.
The advancement and enrichment of the different academic programmes at the under-graduate, post-graduate and doctorate levels, which are offered by the only two Law Colleges in the state of Goa, affiliated to the Goa university and recognized by the Bar Council of India got documented though the MoU with the V. M. Salgaoncar College of Law. In doing so, there is a promotion of collaborative research through their respective Research Centres in the form of a cluster and promotes a healthy dialogue between the faculty of both Colleges in respect of the subjects being taught and It further facilitates exchange of faculty, researchers and students to collaborate. There are plans to jointly organize webinars and seminars in keeping with the objectives of the MoU.
With the signing of this cooperation agreement, our College formally joined hands with a leading university in Fortaleza, Brazil and took the nature of legal education in the Indian legal system into Brazil while making way for Faculty from Brazilian Universities to set foot into our College and to improve the academic development of the teaching faculty and the researchers. For this purpose, both institutions agreed to exchange students, faculty members, researchers and other staff and both agreed to implement joint research project. Our faculty has visited the University of Fortaleza, held discussions with the Rector and other senior faculty of the Unievrsity and also presented a paper, in the Portuguese language at the VIth International Lusophone Conference held there. Further, this cooperation agreement also provides for promotion of culture, which includes the Portuguese language though different scientific. Plans are underway between both institutions to organize an international conference at our College shortly.
The Carmel College of Arts, Science and Commerce is exclusively a Womens College and is the only such higher education institution in the State of Goa. Our College has mutually agreed with Carmel college to engage in organizing guest lectures, master classes, seminars, workshops and/or conferences in the areas of womens’ rights, child rights and family law amongst other such socio-legal areas. Our College is also in discussions with the Faculty of Carmel College with a view to engage in curricular topics of subjects such as languages, Political Science, Economics and History.
The main objectives of entering into this MoU with the post-graduate Department of Psychology of Carmel College of Arts and Science is to advance mutual advantages related to studies on social and psychological concerns of mental and well-being and to understand legal issues related to mental health, human rights and related matters and for this purpose, both parties are exploring knowledge exchange, teachers’ mobility and sharing of library resources. The faculty and students of post-graduate Department of Psychology of Carmel College organized an interactive session on mental health for the benefit of our College. Likewise, the faculty of our College organized a Students’ Seminar.
This MOU was specially entered into with the purpose of providing women in distress with access to a range of services including legal services, through the curriculum outreach of the college at the Sakhi One Stop Centre, which is set up by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Govt. of India. In addition, the girl students of the College are assisting the Centre in recording of evidence and are also engaging in internships. Further, the Centre is providing platforms for our students to sensitize the masses regarding rights of vulnerable groups, particularly women and children at educational and other institution which are being jointly undertaken.
With the signing of this agreement in Goa, in the distinguished presence of H.E. the President of Portugal, Mr. Marcelo Rebelo de Souza, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant and officials of the University of Coimbra, our College enters into strong ties with this prestigious 13th century University. This MoU caters to academic, scientific and cultural cooperation which is established through a curricular unit of Portuguese Civil Law at our College. There will be additional focus on the scientific field of Criminal Law, Human Rights Law, Intellectual property rights Law, Artificial Intelligence and International Law, through students’ exchange, teaching and academic higher level staff exchange, joint participation and conduct of seminars, conferences, congresses and other such events.
The main purpose of this additional agreement with University of Coimbra is to independently establish cultural cooperation in the framework of the Portuguese language and Culture and to accomplish this objective, our College has committed to undertake faculty and student exchanges and joint participation in various courses related to language and culture. Our College is actively assisting the University of Coimbra in rejuvenating ties with its alumni based in Goa, who undertook studies in the field of Law, amongst other disciplines.
