4th Crisis Control International Competition 2025

Vidya Vikas Mandal’s Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law, Margao- Goa, is proud to have hosted yet another successful edition of the Crisis Control International Competition, 2025 held on 24th and 25th January, 2025 in online mode. The entire competition was conducted on Google Meet platform. This unique two-day competition witnessed participation from all over the world. This competition provides students across the world to showcase their analytical and presentation skills.

Day 1

The Inaugural Ceremony:

The first day started off with the Inaugural Ceremony at 10 am where, Miss Mariam George, student of 2nd year B.A.LL.B. was the compere for the day, she aptly and skillfully navigated through all the events. The Officiating Principal, Dr. Maria Goretti Simoes, addressed the audience, both online and in-person, with a message that resonated across the diverse attendance.

Asst. Prof. Akanksha Gehlaut, Faculty Coordinator, provided a complete outline of the third edition of the event that housed Notable changes, and spoke about the growth and development of the event, highlighting their commitment to stray away from conventional methods and adopting and improving to online means as an attempt to enhance the experience of the participants all around the world.

Following which the Student Coordinator of CCIC Miss Sobi, introduced the Chief guest Dr. Mrudula Bele as she took over to delve into the complexity and technicality of INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS and ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE. The Chief Guest, renowned in her field, shared profound insights into the current landscape of Intellectual Property Rights in regards with AI, and spoke about ‘Protection of the Rights of Human Creators’

The Inaugural ceremony ended with a vote of thanks by Asst. Prof. Sapresh Devidas who expressed heartfelt gratitude towards the dignitaries, the participants and the attendees.

Orientation and Learning Session:

The event then transitioned to the second part, the Orientation Session, at 11:00 am, which was led by Assistant Professor, Akanksha Gehlaut. This critical segment aimed to provide participants with essential information, guidance, and a comprehensive overview of the event’s structure and objectives. Participants were provided with necessary knowledge, and rules and regulations, they were informed about their respective positions in the competition through a draw of cards. The act of unveiling categories with drawn cards not only added an enjoyable aspect to the event it also fostered anticipation and encouraged teamwork among the participants.

Following the orientation session, the event transitioned to the learning session, which started at 11:30am, and was guided by Asst. Prof. Priyanka Parab. She introduced the Resource person Dr. Owais Shaikh. The learning session commenced with a unique experiment with AI systems that was proposed to the participants by the resource person, making the session extremely interactive and enjoyable for everyone. He spoke about the disadvantages of AI in regards to patent law, raised marvelous questions about rights of ownership of content created by Public AI domains and explained in great detail about how

AI is trained. The Q&A session demonstrated their adeptness at addressing diverse queries with clarity and precision.

With the conclusion of day 1, the attendees carried with them newfound knowledge and perspectives that set the stage for further exploration and engagement in the subsequent days of the event.

Day 2

The Competition:

The second day started with the same pump and energy as that of day one, the competition unfolded in a dynamic manner, with both “for” and “against” categories progressing simultaneously in sequence. The proposition’s main issue was whether copyright can be granted to non-human entities under current copyright law. Taking into consideration the ethical legal and moral aspects of law in regards to the general public.

As each category unfolded, participants demonstrated their talents and insights, offering a well-rounded perspective on the topic. The competition grew fiercer with every round, highlighting the determination and skill of everyone involved. Despite the challenges, the event thrived on strong teamwork, which only heightened the excitement and energy, ultimately making it a resounding success.

Mr. Oswais Shaik and Mr. Anwesh Roy were the judges for the day who meticulously provided the participants with feedback and pointers for their future endeavors.

 

The Valedictory Ceremony :

After a while it proceeded with the valedictory session, which marked the near end of the event. Vice principal and HOD Dr. Shruti Nadkarni addressed and acknowledged everyone’s hard work to put forth a successful event yet again, following which a brief report of the 2 day event was read by Nadia Costa.

Asst. Prof Merville Rodrigues introduced the chief guest Dr. Sanath Sameera Wijesinghe, who is a professor in Legal Studies & Head of the Department of Legal Studies

at the Open University of Sri Lanka, he greatly spoke about the main topic of the day and gave profound insight on the same. Asst Prof Parita Naik introduced Mr. Anwesh Roy who spoke a few words, following which Asst. Prof. Akanksha Gehlaut ended the event with the vote thanks, highlighting and acknowledging the work of each and everyone, at last the most anticipated time was finally here, the announcement of the winners of CCIC 2025, student coordinator Miss Sobi, played a video announcing the winners of the CCIC 2025. The winners of the competition won a prize amount of 40,000 INR in their respective categories. The prize money was sponsored by the Parent Teacher Association of the college.
